A visionary leader whose life is a testament to the power of faith, education, and relentless compassion. From humble roots in Ilorin to the corridors of global influence — she has dedicated her extraordinary journey to lifting others.
Being human is not just our name — it is our creed. Every person, regardless of circumstance, deserves dignity, opportunity, and love. — Engr. Dr. Amb. Khadija Kuburat Ibrahim, Founder & CEO, BHFLP
Born into the Ileko, Idiape family of Ilorin to father Alhaji Ibrahim Isa Kasina — a retired customs officer — and mother Hajia Fatima, who passed away in active service to the nation, Khadijat Kuburat Ibrahim is the first daughter and third born of her parents. Popularly called "Alhaja" — a name she earned upon returning from Saudi Arabia at the tender age of three with her grandmother, a successful businesswoman from whom she inherited her remarkable entrepreneurial instincts.
Her educational journey is as distinguished as it is diverse. She attended Niger River Basin Development Staff Primary School in Ilorin and graduated from the Federal Government Girls College, Kazaure, Jigawa State. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and Water Resources from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, and an MBA from the Business School of the Netherlands.
Her academic hunger did not stop there. She obtained a certificate in Islamic Studies from DAARUL IMAAM AL LAYTH International School, and earned prestigious certifications from institutions across the globe — including an aesthetic programme in New York, Project Management from the University of California, Fundamentals of Project Management from the University of Virginia, Renewable Energy and Green Building from Duke University, Entrepreneurship from Duke University, Engineering Project Management from Rice University, Human Resources from the University of Minnesota (all in the USA), and Business Model Innovation from HEC Paris, France.
On the 12th of November, 2022, she was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Entrepreneurship and Social Development by Harris University, Lomé, Togo. In May 2023, she was admitted as a Fellow of the prestigious Girne American University in Cyprus — adding FGAU to her name. On the 27th of November 2023, she received a Fellowship Membership from the Nigeria Institution of Facilities Engineering and Management (NIFEM).
Her awards speak to a life of fearless service: the Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna Merit Award, an Award of Excellence from the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (May 2024), and the ECOWAS Youth Parliament (EYP) Ambassador conferment — recognising her uprightness, sagacity, and immense contribution to societal transformation and support for youth and students.
She has visited numerous countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the United States of America, where she obtained most of her post-graduate certifications. A cherished leader, a modest fashionista, and a role model to many — she is highly courageous, adventurous, creative, jovial, well-connected, and deeply hardworking.
As founder of the Being Human Foundation for the Less Privileged, she channels every credential, every connection, and every experience into one singular purpose: ensuring that the most vulnerable among us are never forgotten.
